Japan’s First Caribbean Carnival 

A group of Soca dancers in Japan planned the Caribbean Festival, which took place in September. Soca music fans from Chiba and Tokyo gathered for four days of Caribbean-themed festivities. Soca is a genre of music that is distinctive from Brazilian samba and has its roots in Trinidad and Tobago, an island nation in East and West Africa. According to Kegon Toussaint, the number of Soca fans in Japan is increasing.
