Picture books written by 81-year-old daycare instructor Shigeko Ishihama
At the age of 64, Shigeko Ishihama earned her certification as a childcare worker, worked at a nursery school until she was 70. She is now 81 years old. To build a picture book library called “Ehon no Ouchi Kanojo no Yumenoki Bunko,” where she reads picture books aloud to kids, she refurbished the living room of her house in 2019. Ishihama claims that since her time, “the environment has changed, and women who are raising children are now isolated.” Mothers who are alone can now hang out at her Yumenoki Bunko.
