Tokyo International Film Festival: Ozu the Legend 

Tokyo International Film Festival is an event that brings together filmmakers, cinephiles, and industry professionals from around the world. The celebration of Yasujiro Ozu’s 120th birth anniversary adds a special touch, considering his immense contribution to cinema.  

Yasujiro Ozu is a legend in the world of cinema. His films, often exploring themes of family, generational gaps, and the changing Japanese society, have left an indelible mark on the history of filmmaking. “Tokyo Story” is a masterpiece and considered one of the greatest films ever made.  

Alongside newly restored 4K versions of his films and a selection of his work recreated by Japanese filmmakers, there was a symposium with Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Jia Zhangke, and Kelly Reichardt—three renowned directors—discussing Ozu’s achievements.
