From FIBA Disappointment to Olympic Glory: USA’s Basketball Rdemeption Journey Begins

The United States Olympic basketball team for the Paris Games was unveiled, featuring a star-studded roster led by LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. The squad includes other NBA luminaries such as Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, and Jrue Holiday.  

The team aims to secure a fifth consecutive gold medal after a disappointing fourth-place finish at the previous FIBA World Cup. The emphasis on defense and physical presence is evident in the selection, with players like Embiid, Anthony Davis, and Bam Adebayo included for their defensive prowess. Newcomers to the national team include Embiid and Kawhi Leonard, with Embiid’s decision to play for the USA being particularly notable.  
 

The coaching staff, led by Steve Kerr, is filled with experienced NBA coaches.The announcement comes as the team prepares for a pre-Olympic game against Canada in July.
