Celebrating 40 Years of Studio Ghibli: Honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes

Legendary Japanese animators Studio Ghibli became the first collective to receive an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Founded 40 years ago, the Oscar-winning studio is celebrated globally for masterpieces like “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Spirited Away,” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.” Although co-founder Hayao Miyazaki, 83, did not attend, his son Goro Miyazaki accepted the award on behalf of the studio. In his acceptance speech, Goro expressed gratitude to fans worldwide. Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed four short films from the studio.
